Project Statement

Oceans, often called the Earth’s lungs, cover over 70% of the planet, regulate climate, produce oxygen, and sustain millions of lives. Yet, they are under threat from human pollution, with billions of trash pieces, especially plastics, choking marine life and destabilizing our environment. In this coil pottery piece, the vessel represents the ocean—vast and powerful, yet vulnerable. Its open form symbolizes how oceans have become receptacles for our waste, while wave-like layers evoke the sea’s movement and the human artifacts that pollute it. This artwork serves as both a tribute to the ocean’s beauty and a call to action, urging us to protect this vital resource before it’s too late.
