Project Statement

In Iran, the mandatory hijab has symbolized state control over women’s bodies and freedom since 1979, with severe penalties for those who resist. This wearable sculpture protests this oppression, using covered eyes and ears to symbolize the regime’s attempts to silence and control. It reflects both the stifling restrictions and the resilience of Iranian women, embodying their relentless fight for autonomy and justice.
